Franco Jaureguiberry, one of the founders of Yerea, was born in Mar del Plata, on the Atlantic coast of Argentina. In this photo he is five years old, and the gourd in his hands is already his own.

In his family, mate was never a special occasion. It was there every morning, on every trip and in every long conversation. It was how one generation made time for the next.

Before all of us

It began with the Guaraní.

Long before mate became an Argentine symbol, the Guaraní people of South America were already drinking it, in ceremonies and in everyday life.

Over the centuries the tradition spread across the region and became part of Argentine life. Today it is the everyday energy of millions.
